Fire Roasted Salsa

This fresh fire roasted salsa is a Dantastic® addition to any spread. Great by itself or with a dish like our prime rib burrito or flaming jalapeno crunchwrap! Dan-O’s original gives this a robust flavor that blends nicely with the jalapeno and serrano peppers. If you want a little more heat why not kick it up with Dan-O’s Spicy Seasoning, or get a smoky kick of the southwest with Dan-O’s Chipotle Seasoning!

Why use Serrano peppers in fire-roasted salsa?

You’re probably familiar with jalapenos, but you may not be as familiar with serrano peppers but you should be, It’s the second most used chili pepper in Mexican cuisine! The Scoville rating of serranos is about 10,000 to 25,000. They’re known for having a bright and biting flavor that is more distinct than jalapenos. You can often find them used in pico de gallo, and of course, salsa.

Ingredients

  • Jalapeno
  • A yellow onion
  • 5 serrano peppers
  • 4 Roma tomatoes
  • 2 limes
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • Dan-O’s Original Seasoning
  • Chopped Cilantro, to taste
  • Olive oil

Preparation Instructions

  1. On a hot grill or skillet, dry roast the peppers, onion, and tomatoes.
  2. Remove the ends of the tomatoes and halve with the onions and peppers.
  3. Add everything to a blender with olive oil, Dan-O’s, and cilantro.
  4. Mix until desired thickness.
  5. Add to a bowl and enjoy with your favorite tortilla chips. Serve and enjoy!
