Lemon Pepper Tuna Steaks

Lemon Pepper Tuna Steaks

Flavors Used:

If you’re looking for a restaurant-quality tuna steak recipe that’s quick, bold, and absolutely packed with flavor, you’re in the right place. This seared tuna steak with a creamy, zesty sauce brings out the natural richness of the fish while leveling it up with Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning. Perfectly seared on the outside and tender-rare in the center, this dish is simple enough for weeknights but impressive enough for guests.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning
  • 2 tuna steaks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • ½ cup broth (chicken, beef or vegetable)
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • ½ lemon juiced (about 1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice)

Preparation Instructions

  1. First things first—grab those tuna steaks and give ’em a generous rubdown with Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning on both sides. Don’t be shy, we’re bringing the flavor! Let ’em hang out on the counter for about 5–10 minutes, so they’re not ice-cold going into the pan.
  2. Now heat up a cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little oil and let it get nice and hot—you want that sizzle when the tuna hits.
  3. Drop those steaks in the pan and don’t touch ’em. Let ‘em sear for about 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness. You’ll see the cook creeping up from the bottom—once it reaches about ¼ of the way up, flip it.
  4. Same deal on the other side—cook until it reaches about ¼ up again, keeping that center nice and rare. For reference, 1½-inch steaks take about 3 minutes per side. Pull ‘em off and let ‘em rest—they’ll keep cooking just a bit.
  5. Now for that next-level sauce: Grab a small saucepan and toss in the butter, flour, cream, mustard, garlic, lemon juice, 1 tbsp Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning, and broth. Whisk it up and bring it to a gentle simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly. Then pull it off the heat.
  6. Slice the tuna steaks if desired, or make a burger out of them! Serve that rich, tangy sauce right over the tuna or on the side for dipping. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!®
