Ingredients

  • 3 tsp Dan-O's Italian-O Seasoning
  • 1  tsp garlic powder
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 16 ounces dill pickle slices, drained and dried on paper towels

Preparation Instructions

  1. Heat 2-3 inches oil in a deep skillet to 375°F.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together flour, Dan-O's Italian-O seasoning, and garlic powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and 1 egg until smooth.
  4. Working in batches, add dried pickles to the flour batter, gently toss to coat and shake off excess. Dredge in buttermilk/egg mixture, then coat with flour mixture again.
  5. Gently add pickles to the oil one at a time.
  6. Fry for about 90 seconds on each side or until golden. Remove with slotted spoon and let drain on paper towels. Let oil reheat between batches to maintain consistent 375°F.
  7. Serve with ketchup or a mayo or ranch based sauce!
