Dan’s Parmesan Crusted Potatoes Recipe

These may be best as a side dish, but they’ll still be the star of the show when you make Dan’s TikTok-famous Parmesan Crusted Potatoes recipe! This crispy, cheesy, buttery dish is one of our most requested recipes for a reason. Who doesn’t love perfectly golden potatoes with a crunchy, cheesy crust and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth center? They’re the kind of bite that makes you stop mid-conversation and say, “Dang, that’s good!”

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Dan’s Parmesan Crusted Potatoes hit that sweet spot between comfort food and simplicity. They’re:

  • Quick and easy to make—no fancy tools or deep frying required.

  • Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, thanks to the perfect balance of oil, butter, and Parmesan.

  • Crowd-pleasing, whether you’re making them for a weeknight dinner, a potluck, or a holiday party.

  • Versatile enough to pair with just about anything.

With only a handful of ingredients, this recipe proves that simple flavors—done right—can steal the show. All you really need are some baby gold or red potatoes, a little butter or oil, shredded Parmesan cheese, and a generous coating of Dan-O’s Seasoning to bring the flavor to life.

How To Make Parmesan Crusted Potatoes

Start by slicing your baby potatoes in half so each one has a flat side. That’s where all the crispy, cheesy magic happens. Preheat your oven to 425°F and grab a baking dish or cast-iron skillet.

Melt a few tablespoons of butter directly in the pan or drizzle in some olive oil. Sprinkle a layer of Parmesan cheese right into the butter—it might seem like a lot, but trust us, that’s how you get that beautiful crust. Then, season that cheese layer with a hearty shake of Dan-O’s Original Seasoning (or whichever blend you love most—Cheesoning or Preem-O both work great here).

Press the cut side of each potato into the Parmesan layer so it’s fully coated. Pop the pan into the oven and roast for about 25–30 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is deep golden brown. Once they’re done, let them cool for a few minutes before flipping them out of the pan. You’ll see that perfectly crispy, cheesy crust clinging to each potato—absolute perfection.

Tips for Perfectly Crispy Parmesan Potatoes

  • Don’t skimp on the cheese layer. A generous coating ensures the crust releases cleanly and gives you that irresistible crunch.

  • Give them space. If the potatoes are too crowded, steam will build up and the crust won’t crisp properly.

  • Use real Parmesan cheese. Freshly shredded or grated Parmesan works best here—powdered varieties tend to burn quickly.

  • Season smart. A balanced seasoning blend like Dan-O’s keeps things flavorful without going overboard on salt.

What To Serve With Parmesan Crusted Potatoes

These cheesy, buttery potatoes pair perfectly with just about any main dish. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Flank Steak with Chimichurri: The fresh herbs and tangy garlic sauce pair beautifully with the savory, cheesy potatoes.

  • Milk-Marinated Sous Vide Prime Rib: Juicy, tender beef meets crispy potatoes—it doesn’t get more indulgent than that.

  • Chipotle Honey Mustard Drumsticks: The sweet heat from the glaze complements the buttery crunch of the potatoes.

  • Chicken Cordon Bleu: That classic combo of chicken, ham, and cheese feels right at home next to these golden bites.

  • Stuffed Spinach Mushrooms: For a vegetarian option, this duo makes a hearty, flavor-packed plate.

  • Chipotle Shakshuka: The smoky tomato base adds a little kick that balances the richness of the potatoes.

Make It Your Own

You can customize these Parmesan Crusted Potatoes any way you like. Try swapping in Dan-O’s Spicy for a little heat, or use Dan-O’s Cheesoning to double down on that cheesy flavor. Add a sprinkle of fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra aroma, or toss the cooked potatoes in a bit of garlic butter for even more richness.

If you’re making them for a crowd, serve them with a side of sour cream or ranch for dipping—they’ll disappear fast.

Perfect for Any Occasion

Whether you’re planning a Sunday dinner, a backyard cookout, or a holiday spread, these potatoes fit right in. They’re easy to prep, quick to bake, and taste amazing straight out of the oven. You can even make them ahead of time and reheat them in an air fryer to bring the crisp back.

Fans on TikTok love this recipe because it’s foolproof, budget-friendly, and downright addictive. It’s the kind of side dish that turns “just potatoes” into a conversation starter.

You do not have to boil the potatoes before baking.

  2. Are you supposed to lightly boil the potatoes before hand?
I’ve made this recipe at least 3x’s,
Absolutely the best potato recipe I have ever tasted!!! Was a BIG success ! Thank you!

  3. I found that generally about 3/4 of a cup of seasoning makes a good paste. But, I am mixing 1/2 a cup of Cheesoning with 2 tablespoons of Dan O’s spicy (for a little extra kick) and add more grated Romano cheese until I’ve made 3/4 of a cup of the blend. Everyone loves the potatoes with the extra kick!

  4. I received my 3 large bottles yesterday and my daughter got hers. We are going to make the parmesan crusted potatoes tonight 900 miles apart. I’m in Delaware and my daughter is in Florida. We will then compare notes. I’m making mine with salmon and she’s making chicken. I can’t wait til dinnertime.

    1. It depends. You need enough to form a paste,so just slowly add to the melted butter until pasty

  5. The wife made them for dinner to go with shake and bake and me and her completely crushed the entire pan we made a 13×9 pan full

  6. Hands down the best side dish we’ve ever had. One of my kids hates potatoes, and he ate just as much as I did. This will be a new common dish in our household.

  7. I made an elaborate main course and threw these potatoes together as a side. The potatoes got rave reviews while my time-consuming main course got an honorable mention. Your videos are awesome! Keep them coming .
