Dan-o's jamon brown scramble

Dan-O’s Tees Off at Jamon Brown Foundation’s 3rd annual golf scramble

Louisville, KY- Dan-O’s own Dan Oliver recently tee’d off with the Jamon Brown Foundation at their third annual golf scramble at the University of Louisville Golf Course. The third annual golf scramble was presented by Kroger and the Kentucky Derby Festival and was in benefit of the Jamon Brown Foundation Empowerment Center. The mission of the J. Brown Foundation is to impact the lives of those struggling with Poverty, Violence, and Youth Homelessness, and to improve upon the Education and Healthy Living issues that are typically prevalent in at-risk areas while influencing others to do the same. Brown says “This empowerment center is near and dear to my heart.  I want to leave a legacy in the community that helped raise me and supported me throughout my career.  This is my hometown and I want to make positive contributions for the betterment of the whole community, and it begins with the community I grew up in.  I can’t thank everyone enough for your support.”’ Dan-O’s sponsored the 7th hole, giving away a taste of flavor with Toothpick Timmy grilling and serving up some signature Dan-O’s chicken. Dan-O’s also gave away golf tees and balls, koozies, and spices at the hole. But that wasn’t the only goodies the participants received. Participants also got the first exclusive taste of the new Dan-O’s Chipotle Jerky. Dan-O’s put a bag in every golf cart, giving them a chance to taste the spicy, sweet, and smoky chipotle southwestern flavor before it was even announced! “I’m not normally a huge beef jerky fan but this is amazing, this is dan-good!” One golfer commented. “Great flavor, not too hot, little thing to it. It’s good, really good” another shared. Dan-O’s Original and Spicy was also featured in each Golfer’s Gift bag, letting them take home the Yum Yum Get Ya Sum flavor for themselves! Dan-O’s is proud to have been part of such a great event and looks forward to next year’s Golf Scramble. Dan-O’s helps bring big flavor to Shively Area Ministries

Louisville, KY – Dan-O’s lent a hand to help spice Shively Area Ministries’ food offerings this past week. Serving as one of Shively’s largest food pantries, offering emergency financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities, medications, transportation, and more. Last year, they served over 14,000 people, and helped to keep 365 families in their homes. “The pandemic has hit low-income areas like Shively especially hard,” said Development Coordinator Leah Fulner. Fulner reached out to Dan-O’s to request assistance in spicing up their offerings. While they receive very generous donations from Dare to Care, Aldi’s, Wal-Mart, Save-A-Lot, and Individual donors, seasonings and flavor enhancers are in short supply. But it wasn’t just charity that brought Dan-O”s and Shively Area Ministries together. “We were particularly interested in Dan-O’s because so many of our clients and their families need to be on low-salt, diabetic-friendly, and overall healthy diets,” shared Fulner. “Many are elderly or face health problems stemming from experiencing poverty and/or poor eating habits over time.” Dan Oliver and Toothpick Timmy arrived on May 17th to deliver over 380 bottles of seasoning to the Shively Area Ministries Food Pantry. “We’ve met the whole staff, a lot of the volunteers, they’re all the best hearted people and they’re also going to be helping not only get their neighborhood the food and hope that they need but they’re also giving them some dan-good flavor this week. There is nothing we’re more proud of to be here this week to help the neighbors in this area get ya some yum yum get ya sum” Toothpick Timmy had to say. Dan-O’s is proud to help and serve those in our community, and we are happy to contribute to this meaningful and impactful ministry.
