Dan-O’s helps bring big flavor to Shively Area Ministries

Louisville, KY – Dan-O’s lent a hand to help spice Shively Area Ministries’ food offerings this past week. Serving as one of Shively’s largest food pantries, offering emergency financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities, medications, transportation, and more. Last year, they served over 14,000 people, and helped to keep 365 families in their homes. “The pandemic has hit low-income areas like Shively especially hard,” said Development Coordinator Leah Fulner.

Fulner reached out to Dan-O’s to request assistance in spicing up their offerings. While they receive very generous donations from Dare to Care, Aldi’s, Wal-Mart, Save-A-Lot, and Individual donors, seasonings and flavor enhancers are in short supply. But it wasn’t just charity that brought Dan-O”s and Shively Area Ministries together.

“We were particularly interested in Dan-O’s because so many of our clients and their families need to be on low-salt, diabetic-friendly, and overall healthy diets,” shared Fulner. “Many are elderly or face health problems stemming from experiencing poverty and/or poor eating habits over time.”

Dan Oliver and Toothpick Timmy arrived on May 17th to deliver over 380 bottles of seasoning to the Shively Area Ministries Food Pantry. “We’ve met the whole staff, a lot of the volunteers, they’re all the best hearted people and they’re also going to be helping not only get their neighborhood the food and hope that they need but they’re also giving them some dan-good flavor this week. There is nothing we’re more proud of to be here this week to help the neighbors in this area get ya some yum yum get ya sum” Toothpick Timmy had to say.

Dan-O’s is proud to help and serve those in our community, and we are happy to contribute to this meaningful and impactful ministry. For more information on Shively Area Ministries, check out their website.
