Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 3 tbsp Dan-O’s Original Seasoning
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 10-12 slices of thin-cut bacon

For the Mashed Potato Topping

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas, thawed or 1 can
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives or parsley (optional)
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced

For the Gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 14 oz beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp Dan-O's Preem-O Seasoning

Preparation Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the meatball mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, and Dan-O’s Original Seasoning. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Form the meatballs: Scoop out about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll into balls. You should have around 10-12 meatballs.
  4. Wrap in bacon: Take a slice of bacon and wrap it around each meatball, securing the ends with a toothpick if needed. Place the wrapped meatballs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake: Place the meatballs in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the meatballs are cooked through.
  6. Cook the peas according to directions, set aside.
  7. Cook the onion slices in a pan in a little bit of butter until tender, set aside.
  8. Make the gravy: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat then sprinkle in flour and whisk until smooth. Cook until mixture is golden brown, about 2 minutes. Slowly stir in beef broth while whisking constantly. Add the Worcestershire sauce and Dan-O's Preem-O Seasoning, then stir with a spoon and cook until sauce is thick and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
  9. Place a large dollop of mashed potatoes onto a plate. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and onions on top. Pour some gravy over it, throw on some peas and top with a meatball or two!
  10. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped chives or parsley over the top if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
