Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp Dan-O’s Jalapeño Cheesoning® Seasoning
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Crescent Rolls (8 Count) or 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Crescent Dough Sheet
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Preparation Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, and Dan-O’s Jalapeño Cheesoning®.
  3. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  4. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
  6. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the dough. Line your work surface with parchment paper and unroll the dough onto it (if using crescent roll dough, press perforations to seal); cut into 4 rectangles. With knife or pizza cutter, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 strips of dough.
  7. Once the meatballs are done baking, let them cool slightly. Wrap each meatball with the dough strips to create a mummy effect, leaving a small gap for the eyes.
  8. Place the wrapped meatballs back on the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown. You can make the eyes with a dot of sour cream or cream cheese and some sesame seeds for pupils.
  9. Serve the Meatball Mummies with marinara sauce for dipping.
