Low Fat Tilapia Tacos

Try this quick and easy tilapia taco recipe for a healthy meal packed with flavor! Dan-O’s SEA-soning™ and Chipotle, combined with a squeeze of lime juice, create a Dantastic® taste with a bit of a kick. Pile on as many tomatoes, onions, and cilantro as you like – everything is fat free so you can splurge! The yellow cornmeal adds flavor, texture, and body to the tilapia, but it’s optional. The measurements were for 1 filet, but if you’ve got more than 1-2 people to feed then you can easily adjust this recipe. If you don’t like cilantro then try substituting it with basil or parsley.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Dan-O's SEA-soning™
  • 1/4 tsp Dan-O's Chipotle
  • 1 Fresh Tilapia filets
  • 1/2 tbsp lime juice
  • Tomatoes - diced
  • 1 Green onion stalk - sliced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh cilantro
  • 2 tbsp Yellow cornmeal
  • 2 tsp Olive oil
  • 4-6 inch low carb tortillas

Preparation Instructions

  1. Rinse fish and pat dry with paper towels. Place in a shallow dish and sprinkle lime juice on both sides.
  2. In a small bowl, mix Dan-O's SEA-soning™ and Chipotle then rub on both sides of tilapia filets. Place in fridge for 15 mins to an hour or while you cut up your toppings.
  3. Dice the tomatoes, green onion and cilantro for your toppings.
  4. Put cornmeal in shallow bowl and lay fish in it to lightly coat.
  5. In nonstick skillet, add olive oil and cook fish on medium high heat about 4-5 minutes per side until it reaches internal temperature of 145°F or flakes easily with fork.
  6. Build your tacos with fish and all the toppings you desire!
