Jalapeño poppers are a crowd-pleasing appetizer that combines the Dantastic® flavors and heat of Dan-O’s Outlaw with fresh jalapeños, creamy cheese, and savory bacon. These delightful bites are perfect for parties, game days, or as a tasty snack. When wrapping the bacon, start at the bottom and spiral upwards to ensure the entire jalapeño is covered for maximum flavor and crispiness.

Ingredients

  • Dan-O's Outlaw (any variety will work)
  • 6 fresh jalapeños
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 12 slices of thin-cut bacon
  • 1-2 pickles, sliced into thin slivers

Preparation Instructions

  1. Prepare the Jalapeños: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Carefully slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and use a spoon to remove the seeds and membranes, creating a hollow space for the filling.
  2. Assemble the Poppers: Fill each half jalapeño generously with the cream cheese mixture. Place a thin slice of pickle on top of the cream cheese.
  3. Wrap with Bacon: Lay out the bacon on a baking sheet and sprinkle generously with your chosen Dan-O’s Outlaw. Take a slice of bacon and wrap it around the jalapeño, starting from the bottom and spiraling up to the top, covering the cream cheese as much as possible. Secure the bacon in place with a toothpick.
  4. Place the wrapped jalapeños in a preheated smoker at 275°F. Smoke for about 1 hour and 25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeños are tender.
  5. Allow the poppers to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers!
