Salaam aleikum! Today we have a real treat for you with this Dan-O’s Chipotle Inspired shakshuka, full of rich vibrant flavor that will start your day off right no matter what! This dish is easy to make and can be done for breakfast, or really any meal. It’s hearty and filling without being too heavy to carry on with your day.
Shakshuka is a traditional North African and Middle Eastern dish. Its name translates to “a mixture”, and its most classic version uses tomatoes, onions, and spices as the base with eggs poached on top. Over the years, there have been many variations of Shakshuka, so there’s a lot of room for improv when making this tasty dish! It’s commonly thought that Shakshuka is spicy, and it certainly can be. We find that with Dan-O’s Chipotle Seasoning you get just enough heat, while still packing in a lot of the classic flavors you’d expect from Shakshuka!
Of course! Shakshuka can be rich in vitamins A, C, K, Folate, and potassium with lots of protein and if you use feta cheese, it offers a good dose of calcium! Not to mention this dish is traditionally vegetarian which is a bonus for some.
We recommended bread to go with this dish but if you want more sides to go you’ve got plenty of options. Traditionally, this dish is served with a plate of fresh seasonal fruit.
