Smoky Bourbon BBQ Ribs

Smoky Bourbon BBQ Ribs

You don’t need a smoker to make ribs with deep, smoky BBQ flavor! These oven-baked ribs get generously seasoned with Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ, rested to let that seasoning work into the meat, then slow-cooked until tender and finished with layers of sticky barbecue sauce. Made with real smoke from 15-year Pappy Van Winkle® bourbon barrels, Pappy Dan Sprinkles brings deep char, mellow smoke, weathered oak, and rich BBQ flavor that makes these ribs taste like they came straight off the smoker.  My favorpte bbq sauce is hunter brown’s

Ingredients

  • 1½ tbsp Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ
  • 3½ lbs bone-in pork ribs
  • 2 tbsp barbecue sauce

Preparation Instructions

  1. Remove the Membrane: Turn the ribs bone-side up. If the membrane is still attached, slide a fork underneath one edge to loosen it, then use your hands to carefully pull the membrane away from the ribs.
  2. Season the Ribs: Sprinkle Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ over the bone side of the ribs, then flip them over and generously season the meat side. Gently pat the seasoning into the ribs so it sticks to the surface.
  3. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 275°F:  Place the seasoned ribs on a large piece of aluminum foil and wrap them securely, folding the foil over the ribs and sealing the ends. Place the wrapped ribs in the oven and cook at 275°F for 3 hours.
  4. Add the First Layer of BBQ Sauce: Remove from the oven and carefully open the foil, leaving the ribs resting inside. If there is a large amount of liquid in the foil, carefully drain off the excess. Brush about half of the barbecue sauce evenly over the ribs, then return them to the oven uncovered and cook at 275°F for 30 minutes.
