Smoked Sausage

Smoked Sausage

Who says you need a smoker to make smoked sausage? We're taking a whole roll of breakfast sausage, coating it with Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ, and letting the oven do the work! Made with real smoke from 15-year Pappy Van Winkle® bourbon barrels, this seasoning brings deep smoky BBQ flavor, subtle sweetness, and that rich charred-oak character without ever firing up a smoker. Just two ingredients, one hour in the oven, and you've got juicy, smoky breakfast sausage packed with flavor. The smoke is already in the bottle, my friends! It's Dan-Good!

Flavors Used:

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage roll, pork

Let’s Make It!

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place a wire rack on a baking sheet to allow heat to circulate around the sausage.
  2. Season the Sausage: Remove the breakfast sausage from its packaging, keeping it in its original log shape. Generously coat the entire sausage with Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ, rolling it through the seasoning to evenly cover all sides and both ends.
  3. Bake the Sausage: Place the seasoned sausage on the wire rack and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 1 hour, checking the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. Cook until the sausage reaches at least 160°F internally.
  4. Rest and Slice: Remove the sausage from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and slice into thick rounds.
  5. Serve: Serve and Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!
