Easy Mexican Pizza

Easy Mexican Pizza

Flavors Used:

My friends, if you want a Mexican pizza that stays nice and crispy, you’ve got to pay attention to the details! The trick is getting those tortillas crispy before you start layering on the beans, taco meat, sauce, and cheese. Warm up the refried beans, too, so they spread easily without breaking the crispy tortilla. Dan-O’s Tac-O Seasoning Packet - Mild brings that bold taco flavor to the beef, while a final sprinkle of Dan-O’s Chili Lime Seasoning gives the top an extra pop. Crispy, cheesy, loaded, and Dan-Good!

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Dan-O’s Tac-O Seasoning Packet - Mild
  • 2 tbsp Dan-O’s Chili Lime Seasoning, divided
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • ½ cup taco sauce
  • 1½ cups shredded Mexican-blend cheese
  • 1 tomato, diced, optional
  • 1 jalapeño, diced, optional
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives, optional

Preparation Instructions

  1. Crisp the Tortillas: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Arrange the flour tortillas in a single layer so they do not overlap. Bake for about 6-8 minutes, or until the tortillas are crisp and lightly golden. Keep a close eye on them toward the end of the cooking time so they do not burn. Remove the crispy tortillas from the oven and set them aside.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for about 7–8 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks, until browned and fully cooked. Remove and discard the excess rendered grease.
  3. Season the Taco Meat: Add the Dan-O’s Tac-O Seasoning Packet - Mild to the cooked ground beef, then pour in the water. Stir until the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the beef. Continue cooking for about 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has reduced. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  4. Prepare the Beans and Toppings: While the taco meat finishes cooking, place the refried beans in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for about 1 minute, or until warmed through and easy to spread.
  5. Build the Mexican Pizzas: Place 2 crispy tortillas on a large baking sheet to form the bases of the Mexican pizzas. Carefully spread each tortilla with an even layer of warm refried beans, then divide the seasoned taco meat evenly between them. Place the remaining crispy tortillas on top. Spread taco sauce over each top tortilla, then sprinkle evenly with the shredded cheese. Add the diced tomato, jalapeño, and sliced black olives, then finish each pizza with a sprinkle of Dan-O’s Chili Lime Seasoning.
  6. Bake the Mexican Pizzas: Bake the assembled Mexican pizzas at 400°F for about 8-10 minutes, or until the toppings are heated through and the cheese is completely melted.
  7. Serve: Remove the Mexican pizzas from the oven and let them cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!
