Seasoned Scallops

Seasoned Scallops

If you love scallops, you're gonna love this one! We're taking beautiful sea scallops, seasoning them with Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O and Dan-O’s SEA-Soning Seasoning, then giving them a hot skillet sear for that gorgeous golden-brown crust while keeping the inside tender and juicy. Our SPG Tri-O brings bold garlic and pepper flavor, while SEA-Soning adds a savory blend of herbs and spices that pairs perfectly with seafood. Finish them off with rich, melted butter, and you've got restaurant-quality scallops right in your own kitchen. Simple, flavorful, and absolutely Dan-Good!

Flavors Used:

Ingredients

  • ½ tbsp Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O (Salt, Pepper, Garlic)
  • ½ tbsp Dan-O’s SEA-Soning Seasoning
  • 1 lb large sea scallops, side muscles removed
  • 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Let’s Make It!

  1. Prepare the Scallops: Pat the scallops thoroughly dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Arrange them flat on a clean surface.
  2. Season the Scallops: Lightly sprinkle the scallops with Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O and Dan-O’s SEA-Soning Seasoning, coating both sides evenly. Gently pat the seasonings into the surface, avoiding a heavy coating so the scallops can develop a beautiful golden-brown sear.
  3. Heat the Skillet: Place a cast-iron skillet over high heat and preheat for about 3 minutes until very hot. Add the ghee and swirl to coat the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Sear the Scallops: Carefully place the scallops flat in the hot skillet, leaving space between each one. Sear undisturbed for about 90 seconds until a golden-brown crust forms on the bottom.
  5. Flip and Add the Butter: Flip the scallops with tongs and add the butter around them. Allow the butter to melt, then tilt the skillet slightly and spoon the melted butter over the scallops as they finish cooking, about 90 seconds more. Cook until the scallops are opaque and reach an internal temperature of 145°F.
  6. Serve: Transfer the scallops to a serving platter and spoon the flavorful melted butter from the skillet over the top. Serve and Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!
