Flavors Used:

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Dan-O’s Original Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O (Salt, Pepper, Garlic) Seasoning
  • 18 to 24 ounces bread cubes (1.5 loaves of bread, or about 12 to 14 cups), preferably toasted or stale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cups diced sweet onion, roughly 2 large onions
  • 2 cups diced celery
  • 4 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken or vegetable stock
  • 2 large eggs

Let’s Make It!

  1. Prep the Bread: First things first, let's talk bread! For the best Classic Herb Stuffing, you want bread cubes that are nice and dry so they can soak up all that buttery, savory goodness without turning into mush. You've got three easy options:
Overnight method: Cut 1½ pounds of bread into cubes, spread them in a large baking dish, loosely cover with foil, and let them sit out overnight.
Quick oven method: Cut your bread into cubes and toast at 350°F for about 15 minutes, or until dry and lightly crisp like croutons.
Shortcut method: Grab a bag of pre-toasted bread cubes from the store.
Big cubes, little cubes, rustic chunks—it's your stuffing, so make it your way!
  2. Make the Stuffing: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with melted butter, olive oil, or nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Place your dried bread cubes in a large mixing bowl. Make sure you've got plenty of room to toss everything together.
  4. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion, celery, garlic, and 1 teaspoon Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O Seasoning. Sauté for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the veggies are soft.
  5. Pour 1 cup of stock into the skillet and stir in 3 tablespoons Dan-O’s Original Seasoning. Mix everything together and cook for another minute.
  6. Pour the buttery vegetable mixture over the bread cubes and gently toss until every piece is coated.
  7. In a separate bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the remaining 1½ cups of stock and 2 eggs until well combined.
  8. Pour the egg mixture over the seasoned bread cubes. Gently fold everything together until the bread is evenly moistened and all that Dan-Good seasoning is distributed throughout.
  9. Transfer the stuffing to your prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
  10. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden brown and the center reaches 165°F on an instant-read thermometer. If the top starts getting a little too crispy before the center is done, loosely cover it with aluminum foil.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the stuffing rest for a few minutes before serving.
  12. Serve warm alongside your favorite holiday dishes, and don't be surprised when everyone comes back for seconds. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!®
