Sweet & Tangy Root Beer Ribs

These Sweet & Tangy Root Beer Ribs are the kind of grill recipe that makes everybody come running. The root beer brings the sweetness, the tamarind brings that tangy bite, and the cane sugar in Dan-O’s Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ helps create a beautiful glaze on the grill. Dan’s tip: If a rib sticks when you try to flip it, don’t force it. Turn the heat down, give it another minute, and it will release on its own. Serve them up with Dan-O’s potato salad, Dan-O’s Outlaw Butter Dust Grilled Corn, or your favorite backyard Dan-O’s BBQ sides.

Ingredients

  • 8 ½ tbsp Dan-O’s Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ, divided
  • 2 slabs of pork ribs
  • 3 12 oz cans of root beer

Preparation Instructions

  1. Prep the Ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Use the back of a spoon to loosen the membrane, then grab it with your hand and pull it off. Cut the ribs into individual riblets.
  2. Marinate the Ribs: Add the riblets, root beer, and 6 tbsp Dan-O’s Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ to a large 2 ½-gallon zip-top bag. Double bag to prevent leaks, shake to coat, and marinate overnight.
  3. Grill the Ribs: Place the marinated riblets on the grill and sprinkle with 1 tbsp Dan-O’s Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ. Grill over medium-high heat for 15 minutes, then flip once they release and have grill marks. Season with 1 tbsp Dan-O’s Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ and grill for another 15 minutes.
  4. Finish and Rest: Once the ribs are glazed and cooked through, give them one final sprinkle of the remaining ½ tbsp Dan-O’s Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ. Transfer to a tray, cover, and let rest for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Serve: Serve hot and enjoy that charred, sweet, tangy root beer glaze. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!
