Ingredients

  • 3 tbs Dan-O’s Tac-O Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Dan-O’s Chipotle Seasoning
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • ½ onion - diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese blend)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, guacamole, chopped cilantro
  • Pumpkin shaped cookie cutter

Preparation Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the filling: In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat. Add Dan-O's Tac-O seasoning and Chipotle Seasoning, and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the puff pastry: Cut out 24 pumpkins with a 4-inch cookie cutter; arrange half on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Fill the pastry: Place a spoonful of the seasoned beef mixture in the center of each puff pastry. Sprinkle a little shredded cheese on top.
  5. Lay another pumpkin shaped piece of pastry on top, pressing the edges together to seal. You can crimp the edges with a fork for a decorative touch.
  6. Egg wash: Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Sprinkle with salt if desired.
  7. Bake: Place the filled puff pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden and puffed up.
  8. Let the pastries cool slightly, then serve with your favorite taco toppings like sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or chopped cilantro.
