Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Dan-O’s Crunchy Seasoning
  • ½ pound smoked hickory bacon, chopped
  • 2 pounds green beans, trimmed
  • 1 white onion, diced
  • 32 oz chicken stock
  • 32oz water
  • 2 tbsp butter

Preparation Instructions

  1. Cook the Bacon: In a large pot, add the chopped bacon. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the grease has rendered.
  2. Add the trimmed green beans and diced onion to the pot. Add Dan-O’s Crunchy and stir to combine with the bacon.
  3. Pour in the chicken stock and add enough water to cover the beans.
  4. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil without a lid. Once boiling, let continue for 40-50 minute range or until all the moisture has cooked off. Keep the heat high enough to create a slight blistering effect on the beans at the bottom of the pot once the moisture is gone. Only do this for a few minutes.
  5. After all moisture is cooked off and beans are slightly wrinkled and blistered add the 2 tbsp of butter.
  6. Once cooked, stir everything one last time before serving.
