Have you ever heard the saying, “the juice has to be worth the squeeze”? Well, with this Dan-Good Artichoke snack recipe, that saying holds true. This snack requires a little bit of time and work, but it is so tasty and worth it once you’re done.
Altogether this recipe will take about 45 minutes to an hour to make. This is because the artichokes take some time to cook. They are kind of similar to cooking a potato, in terms of the amount of time it takes to allow them to become fork tender. So, just make sure to cook them until the stalk is so tender that can cut through it with a fork.
In order to make this recipe, it helps to have a large, deep pot that you can boil them in. Artichokes tend to be large, so you will want a pot large enough so you can fully submerge them.
When you go to eat them, you aren’t going to eat the entire leaf just the meat at the tip. But the best part is the actual artichoke heart itself. Once you get down to the base of the artichoke, there will be a lot of “thistle” that you have to remove. So just make sure to scrape it all off because it’s not something you want to eat. Now you may be tempted to just try to buy the artichoke hearts in a jar, but those are usually pickled to preserve them and the flavor won’t be the same.
One of the best parts of this recipe is the lemon garlic butter sauce. It adds that Dantastic twist to this recipe that will leave you wanting more. Just make sure to sprinkle generously with the Dan-O’s Original seasoning so the sauce will thicken up a bit. You want the sauce to be able to stick to the artichoke once you dip it and not just fall off immediately.
