Optional melted Gouda adds an extra layer of smoky richness, while seasoned grilled vegetables make the perfect side dish. Whether you’re firing up the grill for a backyard cookout, an easy weeknight dinner, or a summer BBQ, this chicken burger recipe delivers big flavor with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Dan-O’s Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ
  • Dan-O’s Outlaw Butter Steak
  • 2 chicken breasts - or 1 thick breast cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 small sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced thick
  • asparagus spears
  • cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • 3 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • Sliced Gouda cheese (optional)
  • 2 burger buns
  • 3 slices of butter, about 1 tbsp
  • foil

Preparation Instructions

  1. Make the Sweet & Tangy Sauce: Start by mixing together the mayo, mustard, and 1 - 2 tbsp of Dan-O's Outlaw Sweet & Tangy BBQ. Give it a good stir and let it hang out while everything else cooks.
  2. Grill the Onions: Place your sliced onions into a grill basket or foil packet with a couple slices of butter and a generous sprinkle of Dan-O's Outlaw Butter Steak. Toss it on the grill and let the butter melt down. Once it does, give everything a good mix and let the onions cook for about 10 minutes before adding the chicken. Keep cooking until they're soft, buttery, and downright irresistible.
  3. Fire Up the Chicken: Season both sides of the chicken generously with Dan-O's Sweet & Tangy BBQ Seasoning. Place the chicken on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes per side, flipping once. Continue grilling until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. Grill the Veggies: Add the asparagus, tomatoes, and a slice of butter to a grill pan or foil packet. Sprinkle with Dan-O's Outlaw Butter Steak Seasoning and toss everything around in that melted buttery goodness. Cook until the veggies are tender but still have a little bite. Nobody wants mushy asparagus around here.
