Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Flavors Used:

This Mashed potato recipe is the perfect side dish to complement my milk marinated prime rib. Not only is it simple to follow, but it also guarantees a rich, velvety texture. My secret weapon? A potato ricer! Using a potato ricer simplifies the mashing process and makes incredibly smooth mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Dan-O’s Original
  • 5 pounds russet potatoes
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter - melted
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped cream cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 heaping scoops minced garlic (or to taste)

Preparation Instructions

  1. Peel the russet potatoes thoroughly.
  2. Cut the peeled potatoes into small, manageable pieces. Place the cut potatoes in a large pot and cover them with water.
  3. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Test for tenderness by piercing with a fork.
  4. Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and set them aside.
  5. In the pot that held the potatoes, add the melted butter, cream cheese, heavy cream, minced garlic, and Dan-O’s Original seasoning. The heat from the pot will help melt and combine the ingredients.
  6. Using a potato ricer or masher, mash the potatoes in the pot with the combined ingredients. Stir everything together until well combined, ensuring the mixture is creamy and smooth.
  7. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish.
