Crispy Fried Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings with Ranch Blue Cheese Dip

If you’ve got a bag of frozen wings, you’re already halfway to something DAN-O-MYTE. The trick is boiling them first so they thaw evenly and start cooking before they hit the oil. Since they’re frozen, they’ll need about 30–40 minutes to boil, but that extra step helps them fry up crispy on the outside without drying out on the inside. While they’re still hot, hit them with Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning, then serve them with a cool, tangy Dan-O’s Dips Ranch and blue cheese dip.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 5 tbsp Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning, divided
  • 2 tbsp Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O (Salt, Pepper, Garlic) Seasoning
  • 8 lbs frozen chicken wings
  • Water, enough to cover the wings for boiling
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • Peanut oil, enough to fill the pan 3 inches deep

Ranch Blue Cheese Dip

  • 1 packet Dan-O’s Dips Ranch
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • ½ container blue cheese crumbles

Preparation Instructions

  1. Boil the Wings: Add the frozen chicken wings to a large pot and cover with water. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil over high heat. Boil for about 40 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  2. Drain and Season the Wings: Remove the cooked wings from the pot and drain well. Add the wings to a large bowl.
    Season with Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O Seasoning and 3 tbsp Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning. Add the flour and cornstarch. Toss until the wings are evenly coated.
  3. Fry the Wings: Add peanut oil to a fryer or heavy pot, filling it 1 to 2 inches deep. Heat the oil to 375°F. Carefully lower the coated wings into the hot oil in batches, making sure they are not stuck together or overcrowded. Fry for about 5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy.
  4. Finish with Lemon Pepper: Transfer the hot wings to a bowl. While they are still hot, sprinkle with the remaining 2 tbsp Dan-O’s Lemon Pepper Seasoning. Toss to coat. Repeat with the remaining wings until all batches are fried and seasoned.
  5. Make the Ranch Blue Cheese Dip: Add the Dan-O’s Dips Ranch, mayonnaise, and buttermilk to a bowl. Mix until smooth, about 30 seconds. Stir in the blue cheese crumbles, smashing some into the dip to build flavor.
  6. Serve the crispy lemon pepper wings hot with the ranch blue cheese dip. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!
