Pan Grilled Garlic Green Beans

Pan Grilled Garlic Green Beans

Flavors Used:

They might not be much to look at, but once you try these fresh, pan-grilled garlic green beans, you’ll never want them any other way! For this recipe, all you need are some fresh green beans from your grocery or market, Dan-O’s Seasoning, water, oil, garlic, and onion.

So for the green beans, you want to get nice, even-sized beans. Your beans are best when they aren’t bulging out, which usually means they were grown too long. I like to use about 2 cloves of garlic per half pound of beans, and just one slice of red onion.

This recipe using a number of cooking techniques, such as steaming, and sauteing, but if you follow along you’ll have no issues! I do think that the original Dan-O’s Seasoning is the perfect blend for this recipe, as it has a lovely amount of sea salt, herbs, and citrus. You can use the spicy, but I’d add a few pepper flakes instead if it were me.

Serve your green beans with a starch and your protein of choice. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • ½ lb of fresh green beans
  • Water
  • Oil (I like bacon grease)
  • Dan-O’s Original Seasoning
  • 1 red onion slice (literally one slice)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Preparation Instructions

  1. Carefully pick your green beans and aim to get ones that are all the same size. Snap off the ends of the beans where the vines are or cut them with a knife. Once they are cut, wash them.
  2. Heat a 12 inch skillet to medium. Add in your green beans and drizzle in a little oil. Once your pan is fully heated, pour in about half a cup of water over the beans. From there, cover your beans with a generous coating of Dan-O’s Seasoning. Stir beans around a few times.
  3. Once your water fully evaporates (about 3-4 minutes), add in about 2 tbsp of cooking oil. I like to use bacon fat for added flavor. Cook the beans in the oil for another 4 or 5 minutes in the oil, turning occasionally.
  4. Once the beans start to darken, add in your onion slice and mix it around in the pan. Add in your pepper flakes at this time for a little added heat. After a few minutes, mix in your garlic and cook for another 30 seconds to a minute.
  5. At this point, your beans should be darkening a bit, but should still have a slight snap to them and should not be mushy! What you do next is important.
  6. Pour in about ¼ cup of water while the pan is hot, and then turn the heat OFF. Cover the pan and let the beans steam for 5-6 minutes before you remove the lid to serve them.
  7. Serve your beans and enjoy!
