Dan-O’s Gets Involved in a New Type of Racing

Published Monday, January 31st, 2022 / 4:06 PM

Dan-O’s has entered a new venture and we are sponsoring a new car! If you’re a Dan-O’s fan, you’d know that we currently sponsor NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Driver Spencer Boyd. This time we’re going virtual. Dan-O’s is the official sponsor of Class B iRacing driver, Craig Hueneke.

Hueneke competes in three different racing series at the Class B level including the Winter iRacing Series (in a 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo), Nascar Xfinity Series, and starting in February, the NASCAR iRacing.com Series.

iRacing Popularity

iRacing has exploded in popularity recently. If you are not familiar with it, it’s not just a few young kids playing on XBOX. It creates a realistic driving experience for its drivers. The driving mechanics are very similar to that of real life. Drivers use entire driving simulator cockpits to simulate a real race. They include bucket seats, steering wheels, and pedals.

Its growth in popularity started back in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. The entire NASCAR Cup series actually moved to virtual sim racing. They actually nationally broadcasted the races and real NASCAR drivers competed in this virtual series. In fact, they received on average 1 million viewers per race.

Huenke Success in iRacing

Hueneke began competing in March of 2021 but has been a NASCAR fan since 1984. So far, he’s already won 8 races in the NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series and NASCAR Legends Series. This year he has committed to the full 2022 NASCAR iRacing.com Series and will race in limited races in the NASCAR Qualifying Road to Pro iRacing Series. Now, he is working towards getting his Class A Driver’s License and he anticipates racing in the NASCAR Qualifying Road to Pro iRacing Series. He has a goal of making it into the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series, in which 40 of the best sim drivers compete for $300,000.

A Win/Win Partnership

This sponsorship was actually sparked by a relationship between Huenke and Dan-O’s sales representative, Derek Ayers. Ayers introduced Hueneke to Dan-O’s and he loved our product. “I was so pleased with Dan-O’s and I felt it was a win/win to support them on my car and add a little spice to my iRacing Ride,” said Hueneke.

If you want to support Craig as he tries to reach his goal of competing in the Coca-Cola iRacing Series, check him out in his next race on February 17th as he begins competing in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series for the first time.
