Easy Ground Beef Birria Tacos

Easy Ground Beef Birria Tacos

Flavors Used:

Taco night doesn’t have to be complicated to be Dan-Good! We’re starting with a pound of ground beef and giving it a good sear before breaking it up because that little bit of browning adds a whole new level of flavor. Then Dan-O’s Tac-O Seasoning Packet - Birria brings deep, rich, slow-cooked birria-inspired flavor without all the fuss. Load that seasoned beef into warm, crunchy taco shells with taco sauce, lettuce, and shredded cheese, and you’ve got one easy taco night the whole family can get behind.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Dan-O’s Tac-O Seasoning Packet - Birria
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup water
  • 12 crunchy taco shells
  • ½ cup taco sauce
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Preparation Instructions

  1. Sear the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and leave it whole instead of immediately breaking it apart. Sear for about 2 minutes, then flip and sear the other side for another 2 minutes to develop a flavorful browned crust.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: Break the beef into smaller pieces and continue cooking over medium heat until fully cooked. Push the cooked beef to one side of the skillet and carefully remove the excess grease. For Dan’s trick, fold up a paper towel and use it to absorb the grease, then carefully remove and discard the paper towel.
  3. Season the Beef: Add the Dan-O’s Tac-O Seasoning Packet - Birria and water to the cooked ground beef. Stir until the seasoning is evenly distributed. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has reduced and the seasoned mixture evenly coats the beef.
  4. Warm the Taco Shells: Arrange the crunchy taco shells on a baking sheet in a staggered pattern to help prevent them from closing as they warm. Bake according to the package directions until warm and crisp.
  5. Build the Tacos: Divide the seasoned ground beef evenly among the warm taco shells. Drizzle with taco sauce, then top with shredded lettuce and cheese. Finish with another drizzle of taco sauce, if desired.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately while the taco shells are warm and crunchy. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!
