Ingredients

  • 2 Dan-O's Chili Seasoning Packets - Mild
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 2 cans dark red kidney beans
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • Fritos and Mac and cheese (optional as a base for chili)
  • Toppings:
    Sour cream
    Shredded cheddar
    Green onions, chopped

Preparation Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef and sausage until they're mostly browned, breaking the meat into crumbles as it cooks.
  2. Sprinkle in 1 packet of Dan-O's Chili Seasoning – Mild and stir until the meat is evenly coated with bold, savory flavor.
  3. Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for another 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the onions are softened and everything is smelling downright Dan-Good.
  4. In a 6-quart slow cooker, add the kidney beans, pinto beans, and diced tomatoes. Sprinkle in the second packet of Dan-O's Chili Seasoning – Mild and give it a quick stir.
  5. Transfer the seasoned meat mixture to the slow cooker and stir everything together until well combined.
  6. Cover and cook on Low for 4–6 hours or High for 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally if you're nearby. The longer it cooks, the more those flavors come together.
  7. While the chili finishes cooking, build your chili bar! Set out bowls of your favorite bases like baked potatoes, tortilla chips, hot dogs, rice, or macaroni, along with toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, diced onions, green onions, jalapeños, cilantro, crackers, oyster crackers, avocado, bacon, and hot sauce.
  8. Let everyone customize their perfect bowl and enjoy! Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!®
