Grilling a delicious skirt steak recipe for the family is easy with Dan-O's Original seasoning. This recipe combines a juicy, perfectly seasoned steak with a zesty lime-cilantro sauce, affectionately known in our home as our “Family Sauce.” We prepare two versions of the sauce: one with a bit of heat for adults (the “parent sauce”) and a milder version for the kids.
Pair this skirt steak recipe with some Creamy baked Mashed Potatoes and Caramelized Sweet Vidalia Onions for a Dantastic® meal.
Ingredients
For the steak
2 tablespoons of Dan-O’s Original
2 1/2 lbs Skirt steak
1/4 cup Coconut aminos
For the sauce
1 tbsp Dan-O’s Original
3 garlic cloves
Juice of 3-4 limes (depending on juiciness)
Olive oil (equal amount to lime juice)
1/3 bushel cilantro
1/3 bushel Italian parsley (no stems)
1 jalapeño, chopped (for the “parent sauce”)
Preparation Instructions
Marinate the Steak: Marinate the skirt steak in coconut aminos for 5 minutes. Season both sides of the steak with 2 tablespoons Dan-O’s Original.
Preheat the grill on high. Place the steak on the grill and cook for 12 minutes, flipping every 3 minutes.
Rest the Steak: Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Make the Sauce: While the steak rests, combine the garlic, lime juice, olive oil, cilantro, parsley, and 1 tablespoon of Dan-O’s Original in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour out half of the sauce for a milder, kid-friendly version.
For the remaining sauce (the “parent sauce”), add the chopped jalapeño and blend again until incorporated.
Slice the skirt steak with the grain into 3-inch slabs. Stack the slabs and slice them against the grain into bite-sized pieces.
