Dr Pepper Glazed Shrimp

Flavors Used:

It’s Dr Pepper, baby! This Dr Pepper Glazed Shrimp turns the soda’s famous 23 flavors into a sweet, sticky glaze with a savory kick from Worcestershire sauce. Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O brings the perfect balance of salt, pepper, and garlic, while the shrimp cook up quickly and soak in all that bold, syrupy goodness. It is simple, unexpected, and absolutely Dan-Good!

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O (Salt, Pepper, Garlic) Seasoning
  • 1 can Dr Pepper (12 oz)
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp high-heat cooking oil
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

Preparation Instructions

  1. Reduce the Dr Pepper: Pour the Dr Pepper into a pan and bring it to a boil over high heat. Continue boiling for approximately 9 minutes, or until most of the water has evaporated and the soda has reduced to a thick, syrupy consistency. Turn off the heat.
  2. Finish the Glaze: Add the Worcestershire sauce to the reduced Dr Pepper. Return the pan to high heat and bring the mixture back to a boil. Let it boil for 30 seconds only, then immediately turn off the heat. Pour the glaze into a cold bowl and set it aside.
  3. Prepare the Pan: Carefully rinse the pan with water to remove any remaining sugar from the glaze. Dry the pan thoroughly, return it to high heat, and add the cooking oil.
  4. Season the Shrimp: Place the shrimp in a large bowl and sprinkle with the Dan-O’s SPG Tri-O. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  5. Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp to the hot pan and spread them into an even layer. Cook for approximately 1 minute, then toss the shrimp. Continue cooking for another minute, tossing once more, until the shrimp are nearly cooked through.
  6. Add the Glaze: Pour the Dr Pepper glaze into the pan with the shrimp. Toss everything together and cook for approximately 30 seconds, or until the glaze is reheated and evenly coats the shrimp.
  7. Serve: Transfer the shrimp and glaze to a large serving bowl. Serve immediately with sauce for dipping. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!
