Louisville, KY – It’s one thing to create a TikTok that goes viral, it’s a whole other thing when you start an entirely new viral trend like Dan-O’s Seasoning’s founder, Dan Oliver did with his Parmesan Crusted Potatoes. The video grew exponentially and quickly jumped to 10 million views in just a matter of days. The video now has 19.4 million views and over 1.8 million likes.
The Parmesan Crusted Potatoes recipe was a pretty simple one that anyone could easily make at home. All you need is butter, parmesan cheese, Dan-O’s Original Seasoning, and some potatoes. The pure simplicity of the recipe is part of the reason why everyone wanted to try it, but the real thing that drew everyone in was that beautiful, crispy caramelized cheese and herb crust. The process of scoring the potatoes allowed them to cook all the way through while still achieving that crunchy crusted parmesan finish.
“This was actually a recipe I’ve been making for years and I just decided to make it again recently, so it was awesome to see one of my classic recipes blow up like that!” Oliver said. “It was even cooler to see other influencers jump on the trend especially when they used Dan-O’s in their own recipes.”
The recipe looked so good that a ton of food influencers also decided to get in on the trend including @jayy.rene, @cookwithmetri, and even @thecoreyb whose video popped off with 1.5 million views! The entire trend started making waves all across TikTok and everyone was trying to come up with their own unique twist on the recipe. But at the end of the day, the unique flavor profile of Dan-O’s is what pushed Dan’s recipe over the top.
Although this video is Oliver’s most popular video to date, this most certainly is not his first viral video. Oliver has been posting to TikTok since 2020. He initially used it to market the new seasoning brand that he started just a few years prior, Dan-O’s Seasoning. As an early adopter of the platform, Dan was able to have some incredible success early on. In his first year of posting videos on the platform, Oliver had multiple videos get at least 1 million views. This helped get his all-purpose seasoning in front of millions of new customers who had never heard of the brand before. Oliver wasn’t going to let his early success make him into a one-hit-wonder. With his incredible work ethic and infectious personality, Dan continued to make viral videos, and his audience grew and grew. Today, the account has over 2.8 million followers and the #danosseasoning has over 1.4 billion total views.
