Pimento Cheeseburgers With Vinegar Slaw

Pimento Cheeseburgers With Vinegar Slaw

Flavors Used:

Whoever came up with the idea to put pimento cheese on hamburgers was a smart person. They did that for us, and now we have pimento cheeseburgers in the world! This one was made with our state-of-the-art bacon jalapeno pimento cheese and some nice 80/20 bork. Throw in some easy vinegar slaw and flavor with Dan-O’s Seasoning, and you have some amazing pimento cheeseburgers!

You do not need to use bork, but it’s pretty nice when you can find it. It’s a blend of ground beef and pork that I am quite partial to. I didn’t get super fancy with the burgers, but I did dip them in Dan-O’s-seasoned butter and allow them to cure for a bit. Made for a real tasty burger and 80/20 turned out to be the perfect fat content. I also wish it wasn’t 30 degrees outside so I could use the grill...

The vinegar slaw is SUPER easy but it’s almost essential. It’s just simple cabbage in apple cider vinegar with some Dan-O’s Seasoning to flavor it. This acidic slaw helps balance out the rich and fatty pimento cheese and the meatiness of the burger. It also provides a nice bite and crunch. Trust us on it! A big slice of tomato with pimento cheese is also very complimentary, so do that.

You probably don’t need sauce, but if you do ranch dressing would be my choice. If you can find pretzel buns, get those… but the brioche buns worked for me. Pile the pimento high and get ready for a well-balanced, flavorful burger topped with perfect pimento cheese and some incredible fixins'.

Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of 80/20 beef or bork
  • 3 buns
  • 1 tomato
  • (1) 2-inch wedge of cabbage
  • ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ stick of butter
  • 4 tbs Dan-O’s Original Seasoning
  • 3 servings of bacon jalapeno pimento cheese (or equivalent)

Preparation Instructions

  1. Cut your cabbage longways into long pieces and place into a bowl. Coat with a few tbs of Dan-O’s seasoning, and pour over about ⅓ cup of apple cider vinegar. Toss the cabbage in the vinegar a few times and set to the side.
  2. Form your patties into roughly 1/3 lbs each and set to the side.
  3. On a microwave-safe plate, melt ¼ a stick of butter by heating for about 1 minute, and add 2 tbs of spicy Dan-O’s. Remove from microwave, and quickly and carefully place patties on plate, coating each side with butter. Move to another (cooler) plate, and let the butter harden and the burgers sit until they reach room temperature (about 20-30 minutes).
  4. Cook burgers to desired internal temperature, and set to the side to rest. Slice your tomato. Toast your buns.
  5. Build your burger with cabbage slaw, a burger patty, a large spoonful of pimento cheese, and then a large slice of tomato. Dress with a good ranch dressing (optional but not needed).
  6. Grab a couple of napkins, because this will get messy. Enjoy!
