This awesome Jackfruit Tacos recipe combines some incredible ingredients to create tacos like you’ve never had before. There are all kinds of amazing flavors from sweet, spicy, smoky, and tangy.

This delicious meal will make you want to immediately forget those boring tacos with store-bought taco seasoning. Dan-O’s Hot Chipotle seasoning is the perfect seasoning blend for tacos like these. The low sodium from Dan-O’s helps enhance the flavor of the ingredients instead of drowning it in salt.

Homemade Tortillas

On top of all of that this recipe calls for your own homemade tortillas. They are super easy to make and they do a great job of bringing everything together. This is a recipe that you have to try.

For Jackfruit: 

  • Dan-O’s Hot Chipotle Seasoning (to taste) 
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil 
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Guava BBQ sauce 
  • 4 oz guava paste
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce (unsweetened unsalted)
  • 2 nodes fresh ginger
  • 3 tbsp liquid amino
  • 2 tbsp dijon mustard 
  • ½ sweet onion
  • 1 whole red onion
  • 2 whole poblano peppers
  • 3 small red Thai peppers 
  • ¼ cup champagne vinegar
  • 1 garlic bulb

For Tortillas: 

  • 2 cups masa harina (corn flour)
  • 2 cups water 
  • Salt to taste

  1. Harvest jackfruit making sure to remove all white fibrous peel just looking for the fruit pods
  2. Season jackfruit generously with Dan-O’s, salt, and avocado oil 
  3. Mince half a sweet onion and add to large pan until it begins to sweat then add in seasoned jackfruit and minced ginger reduce heat to medium flame stirring occasionally 
  4. In a small pan or oven tray place, all peppers garlic, and red onion cut into large pieces seasoned lightly with salt and avocado oil place in a 450-degree oven for 25 minutes 
  5. Remove roasted vegetables and add to blender with tomato sauce and guava paste if too thick add water SPARINGLY looking for ketchup like consistency
  6. Add your guava sauce to the jackfruit then add in your liquid aminos, Dijon, and champagne vinegar
  7. Reduce heat once again and allow to come together about 5-7 minutes
  8. Transfer sauced jackfruit to an oven sheet and place in a 450-degree oven until the fruit begins to pull apart (about 20 minutes) 
  9. Combine 2 cups of masa harina with salt, then 2 cups water SLOWLY to form a dough. 
  10. Cut then flatten out your dough into small discs lightly grease the pan with oil and toast each side for about 2-3 minutes
  11. Remove your jackfruit place in tortillas and optionally garnish with curly parsley or cilantro
