An Abbreviated History of 4 Ingredient Guacamole
Guacamole dates back to the Aztec Empire during the 1500s. Avocados were an abundant fruit in the region, and the Aztecs would use them in their Ahuaca-Muli, also known as avocad-mixture. When the Spaniards arrived, they became found of Ahuaca-Muli but had a hard time pronouncing the name. It quickly became known as guacamole to the Spainards. In addition to their name change, they would make small changes to the recipe by including things like chilis, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and lime juice. Despite the Spainards love for guacamole, it would stay in Central America due to the fact that avocado trees didn’t grow great in Spain.
