Dan Oliver, the founder of Dan-O’s Seasoning, was recently featured on WDRB’s Talk of the Town, a news segment that focuses on people, places, and events in the Louisville community. Dan met with host, Lilian Cox, at one of Dan-O’s state-wide retailer of choice’s locations, the McMahan Plaza Kroger in Louisville, KY.
In their segment, Lilian and Dan briefly discussed the history of Dan-O’s Seasoning in Louisville. The conversation covers the origins of Dan-O’s, which took root at a bartending gig in the city, to how it ended up on the shelves statewide in Kroger stores.
As many of its followers know, the Dan-O’s Seasoning blends were created by Dan Oliver on bone-in-skin on chicken several years back. Soon after, he started serving that chicken at a bar he worked at where it became a hit. From there, Dan started packaging his products, hit the ground running, and never looked back.
The Dan-O’s Seasoning products have been on Kroger shelves for a few years now, but have gotten more real-estate in the store as of late. They could originally be found on the Kentucky-Proud rack with other local products, but now, in most Kentucky Krogers, you can find Dan-O’s Seasoning displays throughout the stores and often on items in the deli section.
