Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground pork
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk

Glaze:

  • 2 tbsp Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ
  • 5 ounces bourbon
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce

Preparation Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, panko breadcrumbs, shredded cheese, egg, milk, and 3 tablespoons of Pappy Dan Sprinkles Smoky Barrel BBQ Seasoning.
  2. Using your hands, gently mix everything together until just combined. Don't overmix—keeping it light is the secret to juicy, tender meatballs.
  3. Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs (about 1½ inches wide), making them as even as possible so they cook evenly.
  4. Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat and add up to 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  5. Add the meatballs to the pan and cook for about 8 minutes, turning them every 30 seconds so they brown evenly on all sides.
  6. Once they're cooked through, transfer them to a plate but leave all those flavorful browned bits in the pan.
  7. In the same skillet, add all of the bourbon glaze ingredients. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens into a rich, glossy glaze.
  8. Return the meatballs to the skillet or arrange them on a serving platter and generously spoon the warm bourbon glaze over the top, making sure every meatball gets coated in that sweet, smoky goodness.
  9. Serve warm as a party appetizer with toothpicks or over mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables for a hearty meal. Yum Yum Get Ya Sum!®
